The Internet Operations Specialist will join the Content Propagation and Resolution team ("CPR"). CPR is responsible for running the DNS of over 10% of the Internet, as well as devising and providing support for emerging protocols on the 'Net. In this role, the Internet operations specialist will design and implement the supporting infrastructure to run name-services applications in a globally distributed environment.
The Internet Operations Specialist may also take an active lead in developing and shaping the future of the Internet by working within the Internet community to define, build and implement emerging technologies.
Key responsibilities:
Implementation of new hardware and software infrastructure for DNS resolution
Retrofitting of existing DNS hardware/software
Troubleshooting and Maintenance of DNS hardware/software
Evaluation of new hardware/software/protocols for production viability
Setup and maintenance of DNS operational test labs
Working with vendors to integrate and support systems
Documentation and training for peers and non-peer groups in the organization
Second-level support to resolve customer and organization name service issues as submitted within the ticketing system, or as escalated by the Network Operations Center
Some participation in DNS-Operator and Network-Operator Communities
Technical knowledge & skills required
DNS protocol expertise
DNS operational experience
Operational experience with DNS-related routing protocols and implementations (BGP, anycasting, others)
Experience with a vendor-diverse open-source nameserver software (BIND, NSD, others)
Experience with packet and traffic analysis
Cisco CCIE or equivalent experience a plus
Knowledge of registration and resolution protocols beneficial
UNIX systems administration experience a plus
Ability to read and understand technical specifications quickly
You may often be required to work outside regular working hours and from remote locations (remote offices, datacenters, home), approximately 10-15% travel, some international.
